About Loist Abarta
Loist Abarta is the author of Sangria, Sunsets, and Second Chances, a debut women’s fiction and romance novel inspired by his years living, working, and wandering the world. In his twenties, he studied Spanish at the University of Salamanca before spending more than a decade traveling internationally as a home furnishings buyer, visiting over fifty countries and collecting the stories, characters, and unexpected moments that often find their way into his fiction. Along the way, he has ridden a camel near the pyramids in Egypt, hiked the 105-mile Tour du Mont Blanc through the Alps, and developed a firm belief that a good story can begin anywhere—at a café, in an airport lounge, or while people-watching in a town square.
Today, he teaches at a public school in the San Francisco Bay Area and writes about adventure, reinvention, and the magic of second chances. At home, he lives with his husband, their two rescue dogs, and enjoys being a parent to their four adult children. When he’s not writing, he loves skiing, planning gatherings with friends and family, and lounging on the beach with a book that makes him both laugh and cry. He holds a B.A., an M.B.A., and a Certificate in Creative Writing from Oxford University.
